Lowell Johnson Obituary

Lowell L. Johnson, age 84 of the Town of Fairbanks, passed away Wednesday evening March 11, 2026 at ThedaCare Medical Center, Shawano.

Lowell Lee Johnson was born on January 20, 1942, in Iola, Wisconsin, the son of the late Melvin and Ruby (Helgeson) Johnson. After graduating from Iola High School in 1960, he proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. From 1960 to 1966, he served as a Lance Corporal Combat Engineer, spending much of his time overseas in Okinawa before being honorably discharged in 1966.

In 1964, Lowell began a dedicated career at FWD Seagrave in Clintonville, where he worked for over 40 years until his retirement in 2005. Always active, he also occasionally worked as a logger.

Lowell was a man of many interests; he loved woodworking and spent countless hours building furniture and tackling projects that piqued his curiosity. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting deer and bear, and he was a loyal fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. In his younger years, he looked forward to weekends spent talking with friends at the White Pheasant.

Though he wasn’t one for telling jokes, Lowell was known for his quick wit and snappy responses. Above all else, his family always came first—though his love for Sundrop was a close second. In his retirement, he enjoyed visits to the casino and going to rummage sales with his wife, often bringing home furniture to meticulously restore.

Lowell is survived by his loving wife, Linda

Sons: Scott Johnson, Tigerton & Mark Johnson, Marshfield

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judith Uttecht; and brother, Bradley Johnson.
