Marian A. (Magolski) Mattes, age 79 of the Town of Larrabee, Waupaca County passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.

Marian was born on October 1, 1939 in Symco to Clarence and Jesse (Jarvais) Magolski. She attended Marion High School and graduated in 1957. While in high school she met the love of her life; John Mattes. After school they married and the couple moved to Montana and later British Columbia where John was stationed in the Air Force. After his discharge they moved back to Marion and started raising a family. Marian was employed at various local businesses and in 1972 they purchased the Gambles Hardware Store that would later become True Value. They retired from the store in 1993. After retirement they vacationed every winter in Arizona where Marian enjoyed picking pecans and was never known to pass a rummage sale. She will be sadly missed by her family and husband of 61 years.

Marian is survived by her husband John.

2 Children: Sheryle (Gary) Schroeder, Lake Tomahawk & David (Sue) Mattes, Marion.

5 Grandchildren: Brandon (Nicole) Schroeder, Skylar (Alexandrea) Schroeder, Danielle (Abdallah) El Dabbas, Cody (Allie) Mattes, and Alissa (Andrey) Krisher.

6 Great-Grandchildren: Cooper, Arieannah, Noura, Charlie, Laila, and Aubree.

A special friend: Sandy Krueger.

Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Richard, a sister-in-law Marion, and an infant nephew Ricky.

Marian will be sadly missed by her family and friends both here and in Arizona. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a great sense of humor. Per Marian’s request no formal service will be held. A celebration of life with family will be held at a later date. Her family would like to thank the Marion Area Ambulance Service, ThedaCare Shawano, Marion Fire Dept, and all of the wonderful people that cared for her at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton while she was in intensive care.
