Marlin “Hawkeye” H. D. Steinke, age 80 of the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County passed away Thursday morning September 19, 2024 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Marlin was born in Tigerton on July 2, 1944 as the son of the late Harvey and DeVera (Kriesel) Steinke. He graduated from Tigerton High School in 1963. Marlin began doing body work for FWD Seagrave in Clintonville as a young man and retired at the age of 63 in 2007. He was united in marriage to Kathryn “Kathy” Krolow on June 10, 1964 at St. John Lutheran Church in Tigerton. Marlin enjoyed playing horseshoes and softball. He always had a passion for the outdoors and loved trapping, hunting, and fishing almost anything. Marlin spent many hours working in his garden growing all kinds of things including potatoes and cabbage for sauerkraut. He enjoyed riding horses when he was young and was always riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle during his adult years. Marlin was also a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and loved playing with his dog Bailey.

Grandchildren: Callie (Brandon) Hirsch, Courtney (Nick) Christensen, and Corine (Ray) Sonnenberg.
Great-Grandchildren: Hawkins, Hayes, Abigail, and Alexander.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kathy in 2016, and a sister Etta Mae Steinke.
Marlin’s memorial service will be held Thursday September 26, 2024 at 11am at the St. John Lutheran Church in Tigerton with Rev. Dean Suehring officiating. Inurnment will follow at Union Cemetery in Tigerton. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of service.
