Marvin Sherbeck Obituary

Marvin O. Sherbeck, age 86 of the Township of Larrabee, passed into eternal life early Tuesday morning December 24, 2019 at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.

Marvin Orlie Sherbeck was born July 20, 1933 in Navarino, son to the late Henry & Olga (Rasmussen) Sherbeck. He was raised to be a hard-worker on the family farm and there was no shortage of work to be done. As a kid, Marvin was always taller than the rest of his friends, earning him the nickname, Paul Bunyan. He attended Hilda Grade School in Navarino, later graduating from Bonduel High School in 1952; in May 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country. He was united in marriage to Rose M. Pues on July 19, 1954 at Bethany Church, Clintonville. The couple returned to Fort Lewis in Washington by car, stopping along the way to take in the sights this great country has to offer. Marvin was honorably discharged from the service in May of 1955 and moved back to Navarino, where he farmed and started a family. He was a long-time member of Bethany Evangelical Free Church, Clintonville, where he helped with many carpentry/woodworking projects around the church. He later worked for the FWD Corporation, Clintonville for over 33 years. Marvin found time to enjoy many vintage tractor and car shows; as well as snowmobiling and camping with his family in his younger years. He helped develop a local community garden which served area families. Marvin loved to spend time with his family and visiting extended family in places such as St. John’s New Foundland for a wedding, and also did mission work in Caracas, Venezuela; he also had a fondness for his canine companions over the years. As Rose’s health declined in the last years of her life, Marvin was a loving care-giver dedicated to the well-being of his wife. He will be remembered for being very generous with his time, and using his God-given talents to help others.

He is survived by:
Daughter: Ruth (Brian) Allen, Waunakee
Brother: Carl (Barbara) Sherbeck, Madison
Sister: Marilyn (Philip) Schwabe, Richland Center
Sisters-in-law: Naomi Carpenter & Ellen (Phil) Noble
Brothers-in-law: Beverly (Rosie) Pues & Wayne (Betty) Pues
He is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose; a daughter, Joyce; an infant son & daughter; a son-in-law: James Eisert; a sister-in-law, Beulah (Ray) Kennedy; and brothers-in-law, Sylvester Pues, Vivian Pues, & Sherman (Marcella) Pues.
