Mary Katherine (Ebert) Selle, age 74 of Tigerton passed on to her heavenly home June 13, 2024, while at home surrounded by her family after a short four month battle with a very aggressive cancer.
Mary was born on January 14, 1950 to Urban and Helen (Klement) Ebert of Tigerton and grew up in a Christian home with her ten brothers and sisters on the family farm. She attended Tigerton public grade school and high school.
Mary was united in marriage to Walt Selle at St. Anthony’s Church in Tigerton, the couple lived their entire lives and raised their three children in the Tigerton area. She was an active and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Tigerton and was always willing to help with the various church dinners and funeral serving committees.
She enjoyed reading, being outside tending to her garden and flowers or just relaxing by the river watching the birds and geese and looking after the many different cats she had through all the years. She loved spending time with family members especially the grandkids and great grandkids. She had many special memories of the family gatherings and camping trips along with all the silly fun that went with it.
Mary leaves behind in this life Walt her husband of 57 years, daughter Katherine (Tony) Salzbrun, sons David (Paula) Selle, and Daniel (Helen) Selle. 7 Grandchildren, Brad, Corey, Dustin, Caitlin, Elizabeth, Natasha, and Diana. 6 Great-Grandchildren, Brayden, Cecil, Remington, Jaycee, Iris, and Aubrey. 8 Siblings, Urban Ebert, Jerry Ebert, Barb (Tom) Ruppenthal, Richard Ebert, Steve (Bonnie) Ebert, Anne (George) Buchberger, Ruth (Bob) Kaiser, Kate (John) Hoffman, and many nieces and nephews. Also brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Carol Ready, Dale and Nancy Selle, Dennis and Sharon Schultz, and Shirley Benbrooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Susan, brother Jim, and sisters-in-law Gail Ebert and Laura Ebert, and brothers-in-law Roger Selle and Larry Benbrooks.
Mary’s funeral service will be held Tuesday June 18, 2024 at 11am at the St. John Lutheran Church in Tigerton with Rev. Dean Suehring officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery in Tigerton. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9am until the time of the service. Mary will forever be missed and remembered for her loving, kind, caring, and forgiving nature she had as a wife and friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
