Nancy E. (Knudsen) Faehling

Nancy E. Faehling, age 80, of the Town of Fairbanks, just outside of Split Rock, Shawano County passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 17th, 2026 at Care Partners Assisted living in Clintonville. 

Nancy E. Knudsen was born on July 20th, 1945 in Bear Creek as the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Sievers) Knudsen. Nancy was a daddy’s girl and always spoke very fondly of her childhood memories growing up on the farm and spending time with him. Nancy graduated from Bear Creek High School class of 1963.

She was united in marriage to Ray O. Faehling on May 20th, 1967 at Peace Lutheran Church in Split Rock. Together they had two boys Harry and Ronnie. She was lucky to have “her girl” Mary Ellen, a bonus child, from being friends and neighbors with her parents Vonnie and Maynard. 

Anyone who ever met Nancy knew she was a talker, blessed with “the gift of gab” Over the years she worked as a waitress, teachers aide, Sunday School teacher at Peace Lutheran and serving on Church council. 

Nancy loved her flowers and plants inside and outside of her house. She also made sure the birds were fed outside year round. If you stopped to visit her you could find her at her kitchen table or in her chair, with at least one cup of coffee in her hand, either watching TV, doing a crossword or word search or listening to the radio. She especially loved the Milwaukee Brewers and on Sunday evenings Gary Kuchenbecker on the radio. 

She spent the last 28 years being a full time grandma with her 4 grandchildren, Allison, Karlie, Andrew and Jarren. Everyone who knew them growing up knew Grandma. She also loved visits from her “grand dogs” in her later years. 

Nancy will be greatly missed by: Her husband of almost 59 years Ray O. 
Sons, Harry (Angela Brown) Faehling, Ronnie (Carrie) Faehling. 
Grandchildren Allison (Barry Tauscher) Faehling, Karlie Faehling, Andrew Faehling and Jarren Faehling. 
Mother of Allison and Andrew, Ann Faehling-Karschney. 
Her girl, Mary Ellen (Gutho) Schafer (Marlin and son Preston). 
Brother and Sisters in Law Hope and Sonny Heger, Yvonne Rudolph, and Beverly Knudsen. 
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mildred Knudsen, brothers  John and Tom Knudsen, sister Jean Hanson, and brother-in-law Kenneth Faehling. 

There will not be a memorial service for Nancy at this time per her wishes. Hold her in your heart and have a beer in her memory.
