Nancy J. Westphal, age 83 of New London, formerly of the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, WI passed away at Trinity Terrace in New London on Tuesday morning August 20, 2024.
Nancy Jean Koch was born on October 7, 1940 in Berwin, IL as the daughter of the late John and Emily (Kozumplik) Koch. She grew up in Illinois where she met her future husband Marlin Westphal while she was waitressing. The rest was history and the couple were united in marriage on October 11, 1958 in Wilmont, IL. The young couple moved to Silver Lake, WI then to Crivitz and settled on the Westphal family farmstead in Bear Creek in 1977. Nancy was a hardworking farmwife and worked at a number of area factories while helping on the farm and raising their three children. She always had the house in order and meals on the table. Nancy was a faithful member at Grace Lutheran Church in Bear Creek where she was active on the ladies aid for many years. She was an excellent cook and loved baking pies. When Nancy wasn’t working in her flower or vegetable gardens, she enjoyed playing 500 Rummy with family and friends.
Survivors include:
Children: Daniel (Marcia) Westphal, Donna (Jay) Brenner, & Debra (John) Thomas.
Grandchildren: Joshua (Jackie) Schuelke, Christopher (Shaina Ferg) Westphal, Benjamin Westphal, Lynsey Westphal, Jacob Brenner, Luke Brenner, Mitchel Brenner, Cal Thomas, & MaKayla Thomas.
Also Great-Grandsons: Hunter, Knox, & Sawyer Westphal.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marlin in 2018, and by a sister and 3 brothers.
Nancy’s funeral service will be held Monday, August 26, 2024 at 11 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 409 W. Willow Street, Bear Creek, WI 54922 with Rev. Aric Fenske officiating. Interment will follow the meal at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville. Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 10 AM until 11AM.
