Octe K.J. Mattson, age 87 formerly of the Clintonville area passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 at The Cottages Memory Care in Shawano.
Octe Katherine Jennie Heis was born on May 18, 1937 in Richland Township, Brown County, South Dakota as the daughter of the late Frank and Helia (Tuisku) Heis. She graduated from high school in Hibbing, MN in 1955 and from UW Stout in 1959. She was united in marriage to Allen Mattson in Milwaukee on June 6, 1959. The newly weds moved to Orting, WA for 2 years and then relocated back to Wisconsin in 1961. They both received teaching jobs and moved to Clintonville in 1962 where Octe served as the Middle School Home Economics teacher for many years. Then a few years prior to her retirement she earned her Master’s Degree from UW Stevens Point in 1993. Octe and her husband were faithful members of Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville where Octe volunteered with the CLCW and the church choir. She was also active alongside her husband as members of the Clintonville Lions Club for many years and assisted with countless projects and tasks. In her spare time Octe loved singing with Wolf River Harmony in Shawano and took many wonderful trips over the years with Al during their summer vacations. The couple loved visiting family all over the country. Octe had the gift of gab and enjoyed sewing or sitting down to read a good book in her free time.

Her Children: Kevin (Julie) Mattson and Kyla (Jon) Heiman.
Grandchildren: Kyle (Heather) Mattson, Kristyn (Fiance Reece Bridson) Mattson, and Andrew Pingel.
Sister-in-law: Shirley Heis.
Brother-in-law: Eugene Mattson.
Also numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Helia Heis, her husband Allen in 2017, a granddaughter Kendra Mattson, her brother Tom Heis, and a sister-in-law Esther Mattson.
Octe’s Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 at 11am at the Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville with Rev. Brian Crocker officiating. Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in the Town of Matteson, Waupaca County. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9am until the time of the service. Memorials would be appreciated for the Clintonville Lions Club or Christus Lutheran Church.
