Opal Glass Obituary

Opal D. Glass age 102 of Clintonville passed away Saturday morning May 7, 2022 at Aster Assisted Living in Clintonville.

Opal Dorothy Tate was born on September 22, 1919 in New London as the daughter of the late Amos and Clara (Faneuf) Tate. She graduated from New London High School and was united in marriage to Kenneth Glass of Clintonville on April 20, 1943 in Kalamazoo, MI. The couple resided in Clintonville where they were faithful members of the United Methodist Church. Opal was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered in many ways at church including helping with the United Methodist Women activities. She began her working career in telecommunications while in New London and later worked for Urban Telephone in Clintonville as an operator. Upon her retirement she enjoyed working at a small dress shop in Clintonville. Opal was a fantastic mother. With Ken busy working most days she often played catch with her kids in the yard and made sure to teach them household chores. Opal enjoyed swimming with her older sister in New London; well into adulthood and looked forward to playing cards with friends. She kept up with her flowers and other landscaping around their home and was an excellent homemaker. Opal once gave her son some great advice while he was running for President of his class’ student council. He asked her if he should vote for himself as this made him a bit uncomfortable and she told him “If you don’t vote for you, why should anyone else”. Opal will be remembered for her kind heart and her strength when it was needed the most.

Survivors include: Her Son: Dr. Paul (Dr. Lynda Dahlke) Glass.
Grandchildren: Ryan Paul Glass, Eric Paul (Melody) Glass, Sarah Marie (Steven) Laurent, Trent Michaelis, and Tara (Brian) Zachgo.
