Patricia A. Pingel, age 78 of Clintonville, passed away on Monday morning August 26, 2024 at Greentree Health and Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.
Patricia Ann Pingel
Beloved Wife & Mother
Born February 10th, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to Joseph and Ruby Luby. Pat was adopted by John and Stella Shafer (her grandparents) on March 3rd, 1953. Pat attended Freeman Spur, IL school district for elementary school and Herrin High School later in her school career.
In high school, Pat was active in the Herrin Tigerettes Dance Team and remembered her high school years fondly. Pat had several beauty shops through the years, Golden Shears, Patsy's Beauty Bungalow and The Electric Comb in Herrin, IL. She enjoyed doing hair and chatting with her regular clients. Along the way she had two children, Robert and Rochelle. She also worked in a munitions plant and then at Olson Manufacturing making washing machines. Pat attended John A Logan College where she was active in Phi Theta Kappa. In 1984, she met Grayling Pingel in Carbondale, IL. Grayling and Pat wed a year later on August 8th, 1985 gaining two daughters, Amy and Carrie. Pat traveled the country with Grayling playing music all over.
Pat then attended Fox Valley Technical College for Culinary Arts and graduated with an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts. Pat and Grayling adopted Joseph around 1994, expanding the family. They moved to Crivitz, WI where she thoroughly enjoyed grilling, campfires and being surrounded by nature with their beloved black lab, Sonny. Spending a lot of time chatting on the phone to her beloved husband Grayling, who was a truck driver at the time. Pat loved music, dancing and family. She was a permanent fixture at the music performances Grayling would do. Often helping with the merch table, setting up or tearing down, participating in parades and enjoying the folks who came to watch Grayling perform. Pat was always joyful with a glowing smile, folks always looked forward to seeing her. In her later years, Pat and Grayling moved to Clintonville and cared for her mother-in-law, Joyce Pingel. Pat enjoyed living in Clintonville and spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids often.
She has moved on to Heaven and is rejoicing and catching-up with those who went before her. Pat will be missed and always loved. She may not be by our side, but she will look down and enjoy watching those still here growing and living. Pat passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 26th, 2024 at 10:00am at Green Tree Nursing Home.
