Raymond C. Begrow, age 64 of Marion, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Born on February 20, 1962, in Clintonville, Ray was the son of Gladys (Piotraschke) Begrow and the late August G. Begrow. He attended Marion schools and remained a lifelong member of the community he loved.
Ray, affectionately known by many as "Beef," was a man of incredible work ethic and grit. In his early years, he worked at the Dupont Cheese factory, Emil Kuehl Cheese, and spent time with Nolan’s working auctions and farming. Ray was united in marriage to Judy Paiser on July 25, 1981 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Stony Hill. After a period at Marion Plywood, he found his true calling on the open road. Ray drove truck for TransStar and ORT Trucking before realizing his dream in the late 1980s by purchasing his own rig. As an owner-operator, he dedicated decades to long-haul transport, finally hanging up his keys in August 2024.
Beyond his work, Ray was the heart of every gathering. Known as one of biggest jokesters imaginable, he had a gift for storytelling and a laugh that could fill a room. In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer, riding his motorcycle, and exploring trails on his ATV.
Ray’s legacy was defined by his generous spirit; he was always the first to offer a hand to anyone in need, whether it was splitting wood for a neighbor or hauling it for his extended family. He was a man who worked hard, played hard, and cared deeply for those around him.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Judy
