Richard “Dick” S. Paisar, age 68 of Marion passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at his home.
Richard “Dick” Steven Paisar was born May 29, 1951 in Shawano, WI, the son of the late Harold & Doris (Schultz) Paisar. He attended Marion High School where he was active in football and wrestling, later graduating in 1969. He met the love of his life, Sue Schmidt, they were later united in marriage at Elias Lutheran Church, Town of Herman on June 30, 1973. Dick worked for Welch Fire Equipment, Marion and eventually for Marion Body Works as their maintenance lead until his retirement. He was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Marion. Dick was very active in the Marion community, serving on City Council, and volunteering with the fire department. He also volunteered countless hours with the Marion Lions Club not only with the annual Fishing Derby, but with many other service projects as well. Dick also was a past-president of the club and earned the Melvin Jones Fellowship, the Birch-Sturm Fellowship, and the Lion of the Year awards. He enjoyed spending time with family up north at Pelican Lake; Dick and Sue also did some bus trips over the years, most notably up to Alaska. Making maple syrup with his brothers was something he enjoyed every year. Dick could be stubborn at times, but could never be accused of being lazy; he was hard-working and could fix or rig up anything to make it work. He also had a very caring and emotional side; he adored his late wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren. Dick lost the love of his life, Sue in 2013; some might say he died of a broken heart. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, and of course, his trademark moustache.
