Robert G. Hanson, age 84 of Bonduel, formerly of Marion, passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 6, 2025.
Robert George Hanson was born on June 21, 1941 in Sparta as the son of the late Donald and Helen (McCann) Hanson. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1959 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from UW La Crosse. He then taught school in a number of communities prior to earning his Master’s Degree in Social Work in the early 1990s. Robert was united in marriage to Janice Bartholomew on November 24, 1964 in Sparta. The couple owned and operated a gas station in the Village of Rockland where Robert served as the Village President. In 1982 they began ownership and assumed operations of group homes in Black River Falls, Hayward, Shawano, and New London. In 1999 the couple moved to Marion where they continued to care for folks by operating an adult family home out of their house. In their younger years the couple enjoyed traveling and his spare time, Robert loved to paint and listen to the sounds of nature. He spent over half of his life taking care of others.
Survivors include: His Children: Todd Hanson and Amy (John) Dickson.
Grandchildren: Michelle Peterson, Anthony (Robin), Christian, & Dalton (Noel) DallaSanta.
Great-Grandchildren: Arianna & Aaden.
Sister: Sally (Robert) Rueckheim.
Brother: Richard Hanson.
Nieces & Nephews: Brian (Michelle) Hanson, Sarah (Ken) Breidel, Ethan (Mandy) Rueckheim, and Dylan Rueckheim.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Donald & Helen and by his wife Janice in 2018.
Robert’s funeral service will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2pm at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory (North Location, 53 N. Main Street, Clintonville, WI 54929) with Rev. Diana Ziegler officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 12pm until the time of service.
