Robert L. Veleke, age 75 of Clintonville passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, due to complications following heart surgery.
Bob grew up in Waupun with his parents Lyle and Helen (Greenfield) Veleke and his sister Donna. He graduated from Waupun High School and went on to college at UW-Oshkosh where he played trumpet and served as Drum Major in the marching band while earning his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He started his teaching career as a band director with the Clintonville School District in 1970, but was drafted into the Army after just one semester, so left to serve for 2 years. While there, he became the Company Clerk, or as he often described it, “the Radar O’Reilly of Fort Campbell, KY”. He then returned to Clintonville where he remained as a band director for 36 years before retiring in 2006. He was immensely proud of his band program and his former students, who still called him ‘RV’ when they would see him around town.
Bob’s passion was pheasant hunting, and he loved to tell stories about his dogs and tracking down birds. He also enjoyed many years of deer hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, and building a large model train layout in the basement. He looked forward to weekly pool playing and card games with friends and annual fishing trips to Lake Winnibigosh in Minnesota.

Daughter: Kristin (Kimberly) Deatherage-Veleke and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren
