Rosemary Solberg, 83, of Clintonville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of September 7.
She was born Rosemary Malueg on September 28, 1941, to parents Orval and Janet. Her arrival coincided with a Green Bay Packers—Chicago Bears game. By most accounts, her father gave away his ticket without hesitation.
Rosemary met James Ritzenthaler in 1960 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. One dance at the Kollege Klub to “Moon River” ignited a romance that led to marriage in 1962. Jim, an ROTC student, was informed that he would be fighting in Vietnam, and the two moved to a USMC base in Hawaii, where their first son, Robert, was born during the enlistment.
Following the tour, Rosemary and Jim returned to Wisconsin and welcomed two more children, Mary and Thomas. Following their divorce, she spent years working as an administrative legal assistant and in media marketing before meeting and marrying “the love of my life” John Solberg in 1993. They were together for eighteen years before John died in 2011.
Rosemary’s passing came on another Packer Sunday. She’s certain to have enjoyed the game with her father. No tickets were needed for them to attend this time.
Rosemary is survived by her three children and her younger brother, Douglas Malueg. She is preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Thomas.
The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting her family with arrangements.
