Ruby Pastovic Obituary

Ruby R. Pastovic, age 90 of Appleton, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Ascension Northeast Wisconsin St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton.

Ruby Roma Pastovic was born on November 12, 1931 in Shawano, WI; one of eight daughters born to the late Louis A. & Sophia M. (Beyersdorf) Redman. She attended Tigerton Schools and worked briefly at the Clintonville Bakery, later moving to Milwaukee where she was employed at Master Lock Co. She was united in marriage to Charles Pastovic Sr. in Milwaukee on September 29, 1951. The couple relocated out east, living in New York City, Astoria, NY, Valley Stream on Long Island, and eventually Brick, NJ in the 1970’s. During this time, Ruby worked in local department stores including: Steinbachs and Gimbels. She decided to go back to school for nursing and attended Ocean County Vocational/Technical School, graduating in 1980. She worked as a licensed practical nurse in oncology for over 15 years, at both Point Pleasant and Brick Hospitals. Charles preceded her in death on January 14, 1994. In 1995, Ruby moved back to the Clintonville area, where she worked at the Behling home for a time and continued to do private in-home health care. She was a member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Ruby later retired and moved to Appleton in 2012. She loved to try her luck at the slot machines in the local casinos, and you always had to have a dollar to play dice with her at the drop of a hat. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who instilled her impressive work ethic to the rest of her family. Ruby loved country music, especially Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. She will be remembered for her caring personality toward family and friends, but she also had a sassy side which created some great memories with her loved ones.

She is survived by her daughters: Victoria Day, Lakewood, NJ & Elizabeth Pastovic, Appleton
Son: Charles “Chuck” Pastovic Jr., Clintonville
Grandchildren: Shannon (Daren Ratajczak) Pastovic; Daniel Cummings, Allison Graber, Charles (Chucky) Pastovic III, Lindsay (Solomon) Mahoney, & Edward Day III
Great grandchildren: Jennifer Sanford, Bree Workman, Sophia & Jameson Mahoney, with twin Mahoney boys on the way.
Numerous nieces and nephews

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Pastovic Sr.; sisters, Ruth Hille, Ellen Keyser, Betty Grunewald, Ila Grunewald, Roma Verg-Milligan, Lois Maas, & Aretta Strong; a daughter-in-law, Linda Pastovic; and her beloved cat, Buffy (which she always called “Putty”).

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 20, 2022 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville with the Rev. Brian Crocker officiating.
