Rueben Riemer Obituary

Rueben R. Riemer, age 84 passed away Saturday evening August 14, 2021 at his home from complications of prostate cancer.

Rueben was born on September 18, 1936 on the homestead farm in the Town of Pella, Shawano County, Wisconsin. He attended Fairview Grade School, and was a 1954 graduate of Marion High School.  After high school Rueben went on to Milwaukee School of Engineering where he earned his engineering degree. Rueben joined the Army National Guard while attending MSOE and served his country 8.5 years; attaining the rank of Sergeant. He saw active duty with the 32nd Division at Ft. Lewis, WA during the Berlin Crisis. Rueben met Alice Suehring at the Caroline Ballroom and the couple were united in marriage on July 3, 1960. Rueben began his working career as a chore boy at Long Lake Bible Camp, moved to Milwaukee, got a job as a bagger at the A&P Store, and then on to Allen-Bradley while going to school. After completing his education he worked at FWD in Clintonville, Appleton Machine, Riverside Paper, Curwood Wartsila, Valmet, and Metso. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved being active. Rueben took flying lessons but found out boating was a way to be with more of his pals. They did a lot of water skiing; sometimes with the boat full of fellows. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and trips to “deer camp” in his later years. He was very good at grafting choice apple shoots on to scrub apple trees. Rueben also enjoyed dancing and going to musical concerts. He was very proud of his sons and his grandkids and loved to spend time with them.

Rueben is survived by his wife of 61 years: Alice (Suehring) Riemer.
Sons: Ronald (Nancy), Rueben (Sherry), Robert (Colette), & Jonathan (Stephanie) Riemer.
10 Grandchildren & 10 Great-Grandchildren.
Sister: Marilyn Blankschien.
Sister-in-law: Dawn Riemer.
Also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reinhard and Linda Riemer, a sister Dorothy (Gerald) Dieck, a brother Donald Riemer, and a brother-in-law Marlyn Blankschien.
