Russell Fredrick Adams

Russell F. Adams, age 96 of Clintonville, passed away early Tuesday morning August 17, 2021 at ThedaCare Medical Center, Shawano.

Russell Fredrick Adams was born on May 22, 1925 in Clintonville, son to the late Gustave & Minnie (Breck) Adams. He was raised on a farm in the Township of Bear Creek, and later graduated from Clintonville High School with the class of 1943. Russell served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Stationed in Northern China from 1945 – 1946, he served in the signal corps, working with the Navajo Code Talkers. When he returned from overseas, he began working for Clintonville Utilities as a lineman, and later in his career, became a supervisor. He was united in marriage to Audrey Schoenrock at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion on July 9, 1961. Russell later retired in 1990 after 44 years of service with Clintonville Utilities. He was a lifetime member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Russell served for many years on the military honor guard detail through the V.F.W. Post #664; and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Manawa. He loved woodworking and working with his hands. Russell and his father actually built his first house with re-claimed wood from Caroline. He also completed by hand, his home in Clintonville; after the foundation was poured, framing was complete, and the roof was on it. Russell will be remembered as a soft-spoken man, who loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Palma Adams.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Shelly Klemp officiating. Inurnment will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville at a later date. Military honors will be conducted at the church by VFW Post #664, American Legion Post #63, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #63, all of Clintonville.

Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service.
