Shirley Ellis Obituary

Shirley A. Ellis, age 88 of Waupaca, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025 at her home.

Shirley Ann Ellis was born December 4, 1936 in Wausau, WI daughter to the late Howard & Carol (Seavers) Wick. She spent her childhood in the Clintonville area and later graduated from Clintonville High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” James Ellis while he was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapids City, South Dakota on March 9, 1955. The couple started a family shortly after, and Shirley enjoyed her days looking after her children. For a time, she helped in Jerry’s dentistry office at reception and kept the office running smoothly. An amazing cook, Shirley cherished the time she was able to host holiday meals and make certain that all her loved ones left with full bellies. She loved to spend time tending to her flower garden and spending as much time as she could outside. The family’s canine companions were loved like family over the years and Shirley never skipped the opportunity to spoil them. She was outgoing, loved to spend time with friends and family, and often shared stories of years gone by. She will be remembered for her bright and joyous personality, and the love she shared with family.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Constance (David) Hoff, of Wausau; two sons, Gregory (Lizbeth) Ellis, of Antioch, California; and Christopher (Trish) Ellis, of Wausau. Grandchildren: Chad Ellis, of Waupaca, and Cheyla Ellis, of Wausau. Great-grandchildren: Coen & Clayton. Step Grandchildren include David, Estephano, Branson and Brenna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Jerome “Jerry” J. Ellis.

As per Shirley’s wishes no formal public gathering will take place at this time. Family members will gather privately at a later date.

The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting the Ellis family with arrangements.
