Obituary

Shirley M. Redmann, age 93 of Shawano passed away peacefully on Sunday evening October 18, 2020 at the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

Shirley M. Parsons was born on November 2, 1926 in the Town of Stockbridge, Calumet County, as the daughter of the late Lyman and Myrtle (Fuge) Parsons. She grew up in Calumet County and graduated from Chilton High School. Shirley continued her education at Bellin College of Nursing in Green Bay; graduating in 1948, achieving her RN certification. She started her nursing career at Bellin Hospital where she worked for 3 years and then accepted a nursing position at the infirmary at Lawrence University in Appleton for another 2 years. On August 8, 1953 Shirley was united in marriage to Oliver H. Redmann in Stockbridge. The couple moved to Clintonville where they eventually became members of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and in 1989 they moved to Shawano.  Shirley was very proud of her family and loved spending time with all of them.  She enjoyed growing show-stopping violets, tulips, and a variety of bronze and deep red mum plants while living in Clintonville. Feeding and watching the birds in her large backyard gave    her pleasure when she moved to Shawano.  Shirley also enjoyed visiting Vilas County in Northern Wisconsin; our family recalls many fond memories of our time there. Christmas held special joy for Shirley; she started asking her children and their spouses, and her grandchildren, what they would like for Christmas each year starting in September! She always found a creative way to carefully and beautifully wrap her gifts.  When     asked what she would like, her first answer was typically, "Oh, I don't know; nothing much." In her later years, when it was difficult for her to get out and do things, one of her greatest pleasures was being taken to Lake Aire Supper Club in the Cloverleaf Lakes area for a fish fry--that never failed to excite her!  She would recall the days when it cost 99 cents--"All you could eat!"  We are glad she could have her last fish fry as a carry-out order in early October. Shirley often expressed, over the last year or so, that she longed to be with the Lord and see Oliver again, and now, so she has.
