Susan Schwan Obituary

Susan M. Schwan, age 74 of the Township of Dupont, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Susan “Sue” Mae Schwan was born October 17, 1946 in New London, WI daughter to the late Walter & Anita (Bates) Grimm. She attended Fairview School and later graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1964. Sue bartended for many of the local taverns in Marion, later working full-time at Sturm Foods, Manawa retiring in 2010 after 18 years. She was united in marriage to Fred J. Schwan on March 17, 1993 in Waupaca, WI. Fred and Sue were members at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion for many years. Her family can attest to her out-of-this-world ability in cooking. Sue absolutely loved to bake and cook for her family and every prepared dish was delicious. She enjoyed card games, including Cribbage and Sheepshead, attending the Shawano Fair each year, and taking her grandchildren to Shawano Lake Park. In her younger years, Sue enjoyed riding her Palomino, “Goldie,” and loved her big St. Bernard, Duke. She also competed in bowling leagues at Marion Rec. and softball leagues as well. A vacation to Mexico, where she was able to swim with dolphins; and a bus trip out west, were wonderful memories which she cherished. She also enjoyed weekend getaways, hay rides, and the annual Hodag Country Music Festival in Rhinelander, WI. Sue loved Polka dancing and country music. She loved spending time with her close friends. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family and all of the time she was able to spend with them.
