Susan Stuhr Obituary

Susan K. Stuhr, age 79 of the Town of Grant, Shawano County passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 21, 2025 at the Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point.

Susan Kay Papendorf was born in Shawano on November 18, 1945 as the daughter of the late Hugo and Elwirt (Schwan) Papendorf. She graduated from Marion High School with the Class of 1963 and went on to cosmetology school from there. On September 4, 1966 Susan was united in marriage to Evan “Butch” Stuhr at the Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline. The couple moved to Sussex for a few years and came back to farm in the Town of Grant in 1970 where they have lived since. Once back in the area Susan and Butch were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion for a few years prior to joining St. John Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant where Susan served on the Ladies Aid. She would also volunteer as a poll worker for the town elections. However, most will remember her at the Cinderella Beauty Salon in Marion where she made many friends as a beautician throughout the years. Susan enjoyed trips to the casino, bus trips with family and friends, and traveling with Butch to places like Hawaii and South Dakota. She was a huge fan of Sun Drop soda; always keeping her house stocked with bottles and peanuts to share with friends and family. Due to her battle with progressive dementia, Susan moved to Maple Ridge Memory Care Unit in Plover where she has spent the past year and a half. Her family was very appreciative of the care she received there from the wonderful staff at Maple Ridge. Susan was easy going, supportive, hard working, and always there for her friends and family.

Survivors include:
Her Children: Penny (Wayne) Block, Patti (Justin) Drefahl, Liz (Arlyn) Fischer, and Luke (Jessica) Stuhr.
Grandchildren: Paige (Ben) Sjoquist, Wyatt (Friend Morgyn) Block, Mandi (friend Patrick) Drefahl, Cole (Jasmine) Drefahl, Dylan Yorton, Evan Fischer, Ashley Fischer, Bentley Stuhr, Sawyer Stuhr, and Hudson Stuhr.
Also numerous other relatives and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents Hugo and Elwirt Papendorf, her husband Evan “Butch” Stuhr in 2021, a sister Beverly (Ed) Elandt, and by brothers Gordon “Bud” (Darohl) Papendorf and Thomas (Janice) Papendorf.
