Vernon "Vern" Henry Gross

Vernon H. Gross, age 91 of the Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 3, 2024 at his home.

Vernon “Vern” Henry Gross was born June 3, 1932 in the Township of Belle Plaine, son to the late Henry & Frances (Eggert) Gross. He grew up in the Belle Plaine area and attended Shawano Schools. As a young man, he farmed for a living until his barn burned down in 1971. Vern was united in marriage to LaVonne Kuhn on April 14, 1973 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine. He then moved to his current residence on Grass Lake. He was self employed with his coin machine route, called Vern’s Coins until the mid-1980’s. He then worked as a self-employed carpenter until his retirement in 2007. Vern was a long-time member of Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville and enjoyed his church family. Time spent outdoors deer hunting, pontooning on the lake, and taking care of his lawn were some things Vern enjoyed. He also took joy in woodworking, jigsaw puzzles, and dancing to Polka music. He always had time for his children and grandchildren, and cherished the time he was able to spend with them.

Son: Robert “Bob” (Amanda) Gross, Clintonville
Grandchildren: Matthew, Peyton, & Brenna
Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elfreida (Lyle) Gollnow & Freida (Fred) Laude.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, with the Rev. Shelly Klemp officiating. Interment will take place at 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday at the church from 9 AM until the time of service.
