Victoria "Vickie" Helen (Schmidt) Merow

Victoria “Vickie” H. Merow, age 71 of the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, passed away Wednesday evening July 10, 2024 at Thedacare Regional Medical Center Appleton.

Victoria Helen Merow was born August 6, 1952 in Clintonville, WI; daughter to the late Alvin & Harriet (Jartz) Schmidt. Before her graduation in 1970, Vickie enjoyed singing with the Clintonville High School choir. She was united in marriage to Frederick “Fred” J. Merow on September 20, 1975 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville; where she was an active member over the years. Vickie taught Catechism and participated with the Christian Mothers. She devoted her career to working as a certified nursing assistant at Pine Manor Post-Acute and Memory Care until 1981, when she took a break from the workforce to raise her children. Family was her first priority; she took great pride in being a mother to her four children and being like a second mother to her children's friends. After a short hiatus from caregiving, she started work at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville where she would remain for more than 20 years before retiring. She was a natural as a caregiver, always able to make the residents feel at home during their stay. Vickie enjoyed many things such as going on day trips or going to rummage sales with her husband Fred. Cooking her famous “hodge podge” dinner, tatertot casserole, and crab pasta salad. She was an avid animal lover and gardener. She also enjoyed going out for a good Friday night fish fry to eat and visit with friends. Vickie will be remembered as a loving mother, wife and grandmother. 

Vickie is survived by her children: Gregory (Amy) Merow, Port Washington; Ryan (Amy) Merow, Appleton; Scott Merow, Clintonville; Nicole (Eric) Strysick, Milwaukee
Grandchildren: Brian, Lillian, Norah, William, Reese, & Leila
Brother: William (Mary) Schmidt, Maribel
Brother-in-law: Robert (Barbara) Merow
Niece: Kim (Jim) Merow-Lewis
Nephew: Patrick (Allison) Merow

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Frederick “Fred” Merow.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home South Location: 299 S. Main St. Clintonville, WI 54929. Fr. Simon Muriithi Minyati will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Clintonville.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9 AM until the time of service.
