Virginia Meyer Obituary

Virginia R. Meyer, age 84 of Clintonville, passed away on Saturday afternoon February 8, 2020 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.

Virginia Rose Meyer was born September 6, 1935 in Shawano, WI as the daughter of the late Reynold & Myrtle (Koeller) Zoglman. After graduating from Shawano High School in 1953, Virginia worked with her parents at Pine Acres Motel in Shawano and Zoglman’s Meat Market, Gresham. Her grandfather helped her get a start managing her own grocery store called Zogie’s Market, right on Shawano Lake. Virginia met Leroy “Chub” G. Meyer in Clintonville; the couple later was united in marriage on July 25, 1959 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. She then worked at the Clintonville Canning Factory; and later, Wanta’s Floral, Clintonville. Virginia fully retired around 2010 but continued doing things she loved including: crocheting afghans, puzzles, & computer games. She liked to try her luck at the casino and took regular vacations to Las Vegas with family. Virginia had the opportunity to visit all lower 48 states during her lifetime. She also was a notable card player; she played in card clubs at both the senior center and through St. Rose Church, Sheepshead being her favorite. Virginia will be remembered for being a social person who was always sweet and friendly to others.
