Bernice L. (Schuelke) Svetnicka

Bernice L. Svetnicka, age 91 of the Township of Navarino, Shawano County, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano.

Bernice was born on April 29, 1925 in Navarino as the daughter of the late Benjamin and Gladys (Pues) Schuelke. She graduated from Bonduel High School and started working as an accountant at Ebert’s Dairy. On May 25, 1946 Bernice was united in marriage to Thmas “Laurence” Svetnicka at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Navarino. The married couple farmed in the Town of Navarino their entire married life. Bernice was a faithful member of Ascension Lutheran Church in the Town of Navarino where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and active in many other activities. Laurence preceded his wife in death on March 8, 2002. Bernice was a fantastic pianist and loved singing old songs with family and friends. She was a hard working and faithful wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, great-grandmother, & great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include:

Her Daughter: Donna (Jon) Stucki, Black Creek.

Son: Larry (Donna) Svetnicka, Navarino.

Foster Son: Arthur (Sue) Nichols, Springfield, OR.

Grandchildren: David (Patti Diemel), Gary, Kay Ellen, Jennifer, Carrie (Tim), Cathy (Scott), & Adam (Andrea).

Great-Grandchildren: Brandon (Rachel), Kacia, Kaylee, Skylor, Becky, Kristy, Caitlyn, Jenna, Amber, Dylan, Vivian, Walter, & Iona.

Great-Great-Granddaughters: Mackenzie & Hailey.

Brother: Dr. Jerome (Beverly) Schuelke, Shawano.

Sister-in-Law: Sue (Everette) Olson, Navarino.

Also numerous other relatives and friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurence, and brothers; Elroy (Pat) Schuelke & Ray Schuelke.

Bernice’s funeral service will be held Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11 AM at the Ascension Lutheran Church in the Township of Navarino with Rev. Marcia Sabin officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the service.
