Mabell M. (Schmidt) Krueger

Mabell M. Krueger, age 96, of the Town of Grant, Shawano County, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at her home.

Mabell was born August 13, 1918 in the Town of Grant to Emil and Augusta (Schmidt) Smith. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion. She was united in marriage to Chester C. Krueger on December 28, 1939 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marion, where she was a lifetime member. Mabell was a 50 year Charter member of the Marion Lioness Club. She loved gardening, baking, canning, sewing, watching the birds , playing cards, and her two cats, Biggles and Stinker. In her younger years she also enjoyed league bowling and loved to go snowmobiling with Chet. Mabell spent many years working at restaurants including: Grimm’s, Roubal’s Bakery, Chadlarta, Geno’s, Prime Time, and Hidden Valley.

Survivors include her four children; Judy (Daniel) Laatsch, Sugar Camp; Jack (Sue) Krueger, Sink Grove, WV; Peggy (Rod) Pingle, Ringle; and Pam (Elmer) Haufe, Marion.

Mabell had 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chet, her brother Herman, five sisters (Julianna, Violet, Ruth, Marion & Emily), seven brother-in-laws, a sister-in-law, a son-in-law, a nephew, a grandson, and a great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 27, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Marion, with the Rev. Bradley Dokken officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service. Interment to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery, Marion.
