William "Bill" D. & Rose M. Allen

William D. “Bill” and Rose M. Allen, both age 87 of Marion, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 from injuries received in an automobile accident in the Township of Larrabee, Waupaca County, WI.

Bill was born on July 23, 1927 in College Springs, IA as the son of the late Truman and Marguerite (Ripley) Allen.  Rose was born on December 19, 1927 in Beloit, WI as the daughter of the late Lyle and Helen (Marty) Shippy.  Bill and Rose became high school sweethearts and were married on June 1, 1947 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beloit when Bill returned from his service in the United States Navy.  The couple resided in Beloit where they raised their 3 children and Bill worked at Wisconsin Power & Light.  Then in 1971 they moved to Marion where they were current members of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Bill continued his career with WP&L, retiring at age 60 in 1987. In Marion, Bill & Rose were members of the Hardcore Snowmobiling Group and were past members of the Marion Lions Club.  For the past 20 years they enjoyed spending the winter months in Sun City, AZ and had a close circle of high school friends that they enjoyed keeping in contact with.  Rose enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of multiple clubs over the years.  Bill enjoyed walking and was even awarded the Oldest Walker Award in the church’s Soul to Soul walk one year.  One of their favorite pastimes was cutting and stacking firewood together.  They were always by each other’s side and enjoyed the many friendships they made over the years.

                           Bill (Judy) Allen, Fond du Lac, WI.

Grandchildren:  Jody McLain, Brandon & Andy Dennis, and Mitch & Melissa Allen.

Great-Grandchildren:  Brynna & Dylan Dennis, Gregory Ralph, Corey McLain, and

                                    Cayden Davis.

Bill’s Sister: Carol Allen, Beloit.

Rose’s Sister: Ramona (Bob) Stratton, Colorado Springs, CO.

Bill’s Brother:  Robert E. (Pat) Allen, Cincinnati, OH.

Also numerous nieces & nephews.

Bill & Rose were preceded in death by their parents, and Bill’s sister Jae Davis.

A combined memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 AM at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, 318 E. Garfield Ave., Marion, WI 54950 with Rev. Brad Dokken officiating.  Inurnment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion.
