Welcome to the memorial page for

Bryan James Meyer

February 6, 1983 ~ May 1, 2017 (age 34) 34 Years Old

Bryan J. Meyer, age 34 of La Porte, IN, formerly of the Clintonville area, passed away Monday morning May 1, 2017 at the La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor-vehicle accident.

Bryan James Meyer was born February 6, 1983 at the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA the son of Cynthia (Pfefferle) Sliwa & Gene Meyer. Shortly after his birth, the family moved off the military base and back to the Clintonville area. He was a 2001 graduate of Clintonville High School, where he was active on the wrestling team. Bryan worked at Schutt Industries, Clintonville and later at the Waupaca Foundry, but always found time to help his grandfather build swing sets with their Bear Creek upstart, Playaway Toy Co. Bryan moved down to Indiana about 4 years ago where he found work at American Container, Plymouth, IN. He was united in marriage to Karyn Galligan on February 17, of this year; Bryan loved his wife and family very much. They were members at Heartland Christian Center, Valparaiso, where the couple accepted Jesus Christ, and acknowledge the love of God. Aside from his family, fishing was his greatest pastime; he spent most of his free time with a line and pole, often sharing his knowledge with family and friends. Some of his other favorite things to do include: playing Skip-Bo, putting together large, complex jigsaw puzzles, gathering morel mushrooms, and video games. Cooking food on the grill for his family was something he was quite good at; these meals were often followed with good times gathered around a campfire. Bryan was always willing to help someone when they needed it, which was one of the many ways he showed his love. He will always be remembered for his big heart, contagious smile, and the love he shared with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Karyn & step-son, Roe Bowen
