Peter John Oberhauser passed away on September 27th, 2014 at his home along the Embarrass River near Caroline, Wisconsin.

Peter was born on May 19th, 1932 in Mason City, Iowa to Sylvester and Janette Almquist Oberhauser. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne (Sanny) Kennon. After earning a degree at the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 1956, he practiced as a veterinarian in Berlin and Clintonville, Wisconsin until his retirement in 1985. Pete was active in the community as a member of the Berlin and Clintonville School Boards for over 20 years. He continued to volunteer in the schools, teaching Junior Great Books and sharing his love of the environment with elementary school children. He and Sanny established the Natural World for Kids fund to support environmental experiences for local youth. He was passionate about the environment. He volunteered at Navarino Nature Center and served on the Wisconsin Board of The Nature Conservancy for many years. Bringing family together to share their home along the Embarrass River brought him great joy. Pete expressed his artistic talent through creating bronze sculptures of family members and nature which he shared with his community at schools and libraries. Peter and Sanny traveled the world with friends and family, enjoying adventures in places such as New Zealand, Switzerland, and Botswana. They also explored the outdoors through canoeing, hiking and biking around Wisconsin. Pete was an avid and accomplished golfer. He loved playing Bridge and other games with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sanny, sister Gretchen Bell (Ken Bell, deceased) and friend Cooper Land of Los Gatos, CA, daughters Karen (Don Alstad, deceased) Oberhauser of Roseville, MN, Amy (Marty) Ball of Charleston, SC, Ann (Howard Guth)Oberhauser of Morgantown, WV, Sara (Tim) Babcock of Jefferson, WI.
