Larry “Barney” L. Kersten, age 64 of New London passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Appleton Medical Center.

Larry was born on December 12, 1949 in Clintonville, the son of Ila (Redmann) Grunewald and the late Arlin L. Kersten, Sr. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran parsonage, Caroline and confirmed at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. Larry graduated from Clintonville High School in 1968. He later worked at Wanta’s Floral, Clintonville, F.W.D. Corporation (now Seagrave Fire Apparatus) Clintonville, Henselin Farms, Township of Grant, Shawano County and currently for 31 years at Curwood-Bemis Corporation, New London. Larry had lived in Clintonville until 1995. On August 14, 1997, Larry was united in marriage to his soul mate, Terrie Olson at the Red Mill Chapel near Waupaca. The couple moved to Marion and then in 2006 moved to New London where they have lived since. Larry served with the U.S Army National Guard for 6 years and was a member of the American Legion in Watersmeet, MI and a former Clintonville Fire Department volunteer for many years. His hobbies included hunting, trout fishing, and especially socialization with family and friends. He was a huge Clintonville Trucker, Little Falls Loggers, Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan.

With Larry’s love of the outdoors and the preference of dressing casual, the family requests that all who choose to attend Larry’s service are invited to also dress casual such as: Kersten Excavating, WI Badger, GB Packer or camo attire.
