George F. Jeske, age 91 of the Town of Belle Plaine, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at ThedaCare Medical Center, Shawano.
George Ferdinand Jeske was born April 23, 1924 in the Town of Belle Plaine near Embarrass, to the late Adolph & Rose (Meisner) Jeske. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass. In his teen years, George worked for many area farmers until finding employment with Rouse Construction. He was a proud 55-year member of the Operating Engineers Local #139. On June 27, 1970, George married Maxine (Martinson) Jeske. He was also on the Cemetery Committee for Zion Lutheran Church for many years. After retiring, he kept himself busy, finding more time to work on his farm and raise cattle. He enjoyed doing most anything outside, and was very particular about his cutting and stacking of firewood. When he couldn’t get outside, he liked to watch deer, turkey, and various birds from his window. George passed his love of animals and the outdoors to his family and taught them much.
George is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maxine; their daughter, Judy (Scott) Scheuerell of Freedom; step-daughters, Brenda Jeske of Clermont, FL, Valerie (Wayne) Ebert of Shawano, Sandy (Dan) Wolff of Belle Plaine; & step-son, Kevin Jeske of Clintonville; 5 step-grandchildren & 6 step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters, Alice Eggert & Rosemary Beaty.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph & Rose; his brothers, Henry, Mark, Herbert, & Lester; his sister, Margaret Zoellner. He was also preceded in death by 2 half-brothers, Ed Rusch & Walter Rusch; & 2 half-sisters, Sophie Selle & Alvina Meyer.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, February 12, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, with Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Embarrass.
Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 AM until time of the service.
Because of George’s love of animals, memorials are preferred to the Shawano Humane Society, or to another organization of your choice.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano for their care and compassion. It made all the difference.
The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, Clintonville is assisting his family.
